Departments of Education administer regulations and procedures that have been established to evaluate the credentials of prospective educators to ensure that they meet specified preparation standards and requirements. Regulations governing educator preparation and licensing often require professional employees of all public elementary, middle and secondary schools to hold state licensure appropriate for their assignment(s).
